Krux: He who sleeps amongst the stars
06/12/11 || Smalley
The pastel, New Age-cockpuke cover here, and campy, kid’s carnival-like music in the first song here probably wasn’t a good first omen, and the rest of the opener on “He who sleeps…” doesn’t fail to disappoint in its disappointment, with underwhelming, faux-gritty vocals (the higher stuff sounds even worse), generic, uninteresting gallop-riffing, amateur solos, and lots of unwanted, power metal-y cheese about the whole affair. The next song is kind of doom-y in its slower riffing, but still hardly more satisfying or less irritating, and hardly earns Krux the straight-up “doom metal” label they have on Metallum. Way too much cheese here for that to be true. Focus on writing harsher stuff and lose the power metal touches, Krux, and you might be worth hearing, but as for this one…
3,5/10: Forget it.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
